Career & care: ministry for social and integration
VIAOPTIC signed the charta for agreement of career and care at the “Haus der Wirtschaft” in Frankfurt on September 4th, 2018. By signing this charta, VIAOPTIC joins the ministry for social and integration and indicates its willingness to support and relieve employees with family members in need of care. The agreement forms the basis for a modern organizational and corporate culture.
Companyrun: 19th Wetzlarer Brückenlauf
VIAOPTIC participated at the 19th Wetzlarer “Brückenlauf” also this year. Blessed with best weather conditions our 16 runners started in the best mood. At the end our VIAOPTIC-Team accomplished 26 laps in total.
The circuit had a distance of 2 km and led trough the Wetzlar old town. The start and the end/finish was at the stadium, where athletes and spectators were offered an entertaining supporting program.
This years’s entry fees have been donated to the funding project of the HBRS football department (Hessischer Behinderten- u. Rehabilitations-Sportverband e.V.).
Afterwards all participants and fans went out for dinner together and celebrated their success.
Fairwinner: A fabulous weekend in the Goethe- and Optic-City Wetzlar
Finally the time had come – our lucky winner of the fair lottery at Light + Building 2018, Katrin Lindner together with her husband visited us in Wetzlar, the city of optics at the headquarter of VIAOPTIC. The price was a weekend stay in Wetzlar, in the new exclusive arcona LIVING-ERNST LEITZ HOTEL, including a guided tour through the Leica Experience world personally guided by our director, Bernhard Willnauer.
Moreover, Mrs Lindner got a small glimpse of VIAOPTIC headquarter.
We hope, the winner enjoyed a pleasant stay in Wetzlar!
Researchcooperation: VIAOPTIC and the University of erlangen- Nuremberg are exploring the potential of the pressure induced solidification technique for the fabrication of thick-walled lenses.
The Institute of Polymer Technology (LKT) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg has been able to show that the pressure induced solidification technique leads to quality enhancements in optic components. To find out more precisely how this technique can be translated into practice, the German Research Society (DFG) has approved a knowledge transfer project that will now enable the Institute of Polymer Technology to collaborate with VIAOPTIC and partners KraussMaffei Technologies GmbH, HB-Therm AG and Covestro AG and examine the potential of the technique in more detail.
In the manufacture of plastic optics it may be a disadvantage that the material in the mold does not all solidify at the same time, i.e. the material at the colder walls of the mold solidifies first. This time shift means that there are cooler, solidified layers of material at the cavity wall while inner layers are hotter and still fluid. As the material cools further, residual stress occurs which may impair the optical properties. The pressure induced solidification technique exploits the fact that polymers do not only solidify when cooled, but also under high pressure. When subjected to sudden and extremely high pressure of 1500-2000 bar, the material solidifies immediately, although it is still hot. This results in better properties....» more
EnvironmentalManagement: Successful EMAS monitoring audit in June 2017
EMAS is the hallmark of quality for an ecologically oriented corporate culture. Since 2015 VIAOPTIC voluntary contributs with ist own environmental managementsystem according to EMAS to its social responsibility for the environment.
EMAS (Eco-Management an Audit Scheme) is the most exacting system for sustainable environmental management worldwide. EMAS participants operate a standardised environment management system according to ISO 14001 and undergo yearly audits by government-certified, independent environmental verifiers. In their annual environmental statement (see downloads) they publish their detailed environmental data, such as resource and energy consumption, emissions, waste, etc. They also set environmental goals and disclose their plans to continuously and systematically improve their environmental performance....» more
